Mr Clive Dwyer

Director, Engagement, Committee For Melbourne

Clive Dwyer has over 30 years’ experience in strategy & business development for major government projects, destination management, project advocacy & complex stakeholder engagement.

Clive joined the Committee for Melbourne in 2017 & is responsible for strengthening membership, stakeholder engagement & supporting the Committee’s thought leadership & advocacy work.

He recently returned to Melbourne from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) where he was Executive Director of Destination Yas Island & Executive Director, Destination Management at Miral Asset Management. Reporting to the Abu Dhabi Government Executive Affairs Authority, he was responsible for establishing the Yas Island Destination Management Strategy as well as stakeholder engagement, product development, global marketing, communications, infrastructure planning, major events & visitor services program.

Prior to his time in the UAE, Clive was Director of Business Development for the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre, relaunching the largest combined convention & exhibition centre in Australia. During this time, he was Director of the Club Melbourne Ambassador program, which has delivered over 100 international conferences worth over $590 million to become the world's most influential Ambassador Program.

Before this he directed the international marketing, industry engagement & visitor services for the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games. Other career highlights include: the development of Melbourne’s annual International Mining & Resources Conference; delivery of the globally acclaimed ‘Jigsaw’ campaign for Tourism Victoria; plus Clive has also held a range of industry & non-executive board positions in Melbourne.

In September 2016, the Committee for Melbourne launched its Melbourne 4.0 Taskforce to help prepare Greater Melbourne for the accelerating speed of innovation & disruption that has catapulted us to the early stages of the ‘Fourth Industrial Revolution’.

In May 2017, the Committee announced the taskforce’s findings, which made it clear that if we keep progressing with ‘business as usual’, the future of our city may not be all that bright.  In response, the taskforce identified nine strategic needs that we must address if we are serious about underpinning a liveable & flourishing Melbourne into the future...
